Year of The Stash

Amanda over at The Cozy Pumpkin  proclaimed 2013 The Year of The Stash.

Every January I look at my fabric cupboards, drawers, and totes that are stuffed to capacity and wonder how I could ever fit another fat quarter or charm pack into the already crowded space and vow that "this year I will only use my stash."  Sounds good and I know I have said it before but I usually fall off the wagon about March or so when all the new spring fabric is in the shops and on the internet.  It is sooooo easy to order on line.

Amanda suggests that we try to make projects using our stash and only purchasing the needed fabric to finish that project.  That way nothing new is added to our stash.

So this year I will try to complete kits that I have, use some of the old/dated fabric and limit my fabric budget to what I actually need.  There I've said it, put it in writing, now I just need to do it!

I even added a label Year of The Stash 2013 on my sidebar so I can keep track of my progress.  How do you feel about your stash, I'd love to know.  You can check out Amanda's blog here  if you would like to join in.

Enjoy all the pieces of your life,

This is all good. However, I am terrible about staying on track with this notion! LOL I am a fabric-aholic for sure! I really do want to use more of my stash and finish up some kits that I have too, and I am going to try very hard to work on these throughout the year.

Wish me luck and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

This is a terrific idea and one I need to follow, as well. I don't spend like I used to but there's always something to tempt me. LOL

I'm going to watch your progress and see if I can do the same. :-)

Good luck!

Good for you! I'm going to follow Amanda's plan for this year as well... and hope to greatly reduce the number of projects sitting patiently in my stash to be done.

Have fun!

I set that goal at the beginning of 2012 and stuck to it pretty well until we started doing the Grandmother's Choice blocks. I wanted Wm. Morris fabrics in those blocks so I bought Wm. Morris fabrics. My stash doesn't have much of anything that resembles those prints. It's mostly Civil War vintage type designs. I was doing so well until then, but sure had fun buying them.

Good for you! I'm on my second year of using up my stash, and I love it! :0)

Using from the stash is all well and good, but I don't like the idea of depriving myself of some of the wonderful new stuff coming out. I do limit myself, though, since fabric has gotten so expensive. It's a lot easier on the wallet to use from the stash!
